Build Character

At the start of each day, we begin with a 30-minute prayer session where we discuss the day’s events, review goals and objectives and talk about the big picture. Our bible story class takes place under a beautiful mango tree on the school compound. We handle three classes – G4, G5 and G6 – separately, dividing each class into three equal groups. Each group rotates between computer lessons, crafts and bible story class, with each lesson lasting for 25 minutes. We use various approaches to engage the children, including team bonding games, music and dance. The children, even those from non-Christian families, enjoy dancing to rock gospel music and singing along.

Every child on our program is given a discipleship booklet to monitor their progress. The booklet covers the discipleship syllabus and stores the crafts the children make. We write observations about the child in the booklet, which is then converted into a short prayer profile. The prayer profile contains the child’s bio data and unique prayer needs, which are distributed to Christian families we partner with. These families pray continually for the child and write letters of encouragement to them. The children also write back, sharing their progress. It’s worth noting that the first child who chose to commit to Christ among the unreached people of Aringa corresponded frequently via letters and received uplifting replies.
